Craig Ogden brings the festival to a beautifully reflective close with a selection of pieces to be included on his upcoming Chandos Records release which explores some of the most calming music in the repertoire. Spanning more than 400 years but connected by mood, atmosphere and inspiration, join Craig in the timeless and beautiful surroundings of Ascott-under-Wychwood Church in our traditional twilight, candlelit, closing concert of the festival.
Described by BBC Music Magazine as "A worthy successor to Julian Bream", Grammy nominated guitarist Craig Ogden is one of the most diverse and exciting artists of his generation. Born in Perth, Western Australia, he studied guitar from the age of seven and percussion from the age of thirteen. He has topped classical charts in the UK with his five Classic FM albums and his impressive array of over 30 recordings for Chandos, Virgin/EMI, Nimbus, Hyperion and Sony have been critically acclaimed.
Craig has performed as soloist with all of the UK’s most famous orchestras and with many internationally. He is the most sought-after guitarist for chamber music in the UK and following a recommendation from legendary guitarist John Williams (with whom he has also performed in concert), has recorded on many soundtracks for film and television.
Craig has also has presented programmes for BBC Radio 3, BBC Northern Ireland and ABC Classic FM in Australia. He is Director of Guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Adjunct Fellow of the University of Western Australia, Associate Artist at The Bridgewater Hall and Director of the Dean & Chadlington Summer Music Festival.
